The photos here are from a private display of antique cars, vintage roadsigns, and gas station memorabilia. It is the creation of the friend of a friend right outside Topeka, KS. One of the boys I work with earned a tour of the place by improving his behavior in the classroom over the course of several weeks...bringing me to my first thankful of the week--friends who are willing to make efforts to encourage kids.
I am also thankful for time in the garden, the exercise it provides in the spring air. The feel of the water from the sprinkler spray caught in the wind that hits my skin warm from exertion.
Driving by a cemetery yesterday I got a great big whiff of freshly mown grass, the first of the year. It smelled like slow summer and relaxation. Maybe it wouldn't if I had been the one to do the mowing.
I have been taking care of some medical things lately. It is good when your gynecologist also happens to be your longtime neighbor and even longer time friend. I am thankful for thoughtful, thorough care; her competent staff; and finally after a near decade of the ups and downs of hormonal challenges having a plan of action for getting off the rollercoaster once and for all.
