TToT: Fill'er Up

The photos here are from a private display of antique cars, vintage roadsigns, and gas station memorabilia.  It is the creation of the friend of a friend right outside Topeka, KS.  One of the boys I work with earned a tour of the place by improving his behavior in the classroom over the course of several weeks...bringing me to my first thankful of the week--friends who are willing to make efforts to encourage kids.

I am also thankful for time in the garden, the exercise it provides in the spring air.  The feel of the water from the sprinkler spray caught in the wind that hits my skin warm from exertion.

Driving by a cemetery yesterday I got a great big whiff of freshly mown grass, the first of the year.  It smelled like slow summer and relaxation. Maybe it wouldn't if I had been the one to do the mowing.

I have been taking care of some medical things lately.  It is good when your gynecologist also happens to be your longtime neighbor and even longer time friend.  I am thankful for thoughtful, thorough care; her competent staff; and finally after a near decade of the ups and downs of hormonal challenges having a plan of action for getting off the rollercoaster once and for all.

    1. It is often written about, but I don't know when it bowled me over quite as much as it did that day.

  4. I wish I could get over my issues with the grittiness of dirt. This makes gardening low on my list, but not because I don't love fresh air and nature. I think it is all very beautiful and vital. Good for you for putting hard work and time into it.
    Happy Spring to you.

  7. A plan for action to sort things out for good sounds BRILLIANT. I'm so glad you're in good hands.

HOORAY for mown-grass and sunshine and gentle exertion. Beautifully evocative of the summer-to-come, and I hope it's not slow in arriving.

The signs and old cars are very cool :)

    1. The weather has been strange all over. We have a couple days of beautiful spring, then winter revisits for a few days, then more spring.

  9. I pray you can get off that rollercoaster for good with this new plan of attack.

Working outside in springtime is such a mood booster, isn't it? I mowed for the first time last night. That smell of newly cut grass really puts me in the relaxed, summer mood.
