TToT: An American in Kansas City

Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend was almost serene at the airport in Kansas City.  The luggage carousel was still, rows of seats sat empty. There was hardly a soul in the place.  It was as if nothing exciting was about to happen, when in fact, something very exciting was!

My son came home from his school year in Paris.  He arrived safe and sound.  His sister was here to greet him.

The pilot and crew were careful and professional.  The security personnel were alert.  The crew members who keep baggage moving in the right direction got it done.

The small crowd at KCI stayed out of my way when my son reached the point in the airport which placed him in the hug zone.

Old friends decorated our driveway with American themed banners and glow sticks making a tangible Welcome Home the first sight he saw of home after being gone so long.

Not quite ten things yet?  Well, he is home. He is home.  He is home!

  2. He is home! My daughter spent a semester in London and although I got to visit her for a week while she was there, I wanted her back in the hug zone!

  3. And he is home a million times more! I feel that from your beating heart. Smiling for you and loving that the airport personnel cleared the path once he was in the hug zone. Enjoy!

    1. I get him one more week. Then he is off to spend the summer in NC with his sister. I think she is feeling very far from home, and I know for sure his company will ease any homesickness she might be feeling.

  8. I would find it so hard to have either of my boys that far away! It sounds as if he had a wonderful homecoming.

    1. And he had such a fantastic experience while there. I listen to his stories about interacting with people from so many different countries and am amazed. He is such a good listener. Because of that so many people opened up to him telling personal and touching stories.

Paris sounds exciting. Bet he's got some stories to tell, now that he's back.

    1. I can't even fathom all the people from all the cultures he has spoken with this past year. Spring break alone took him to eight countries. The stories he heard in even just the train stations were incredible.
