Give Me a Break :TToT

We are just back from Oklahoma City where we attended the wedding of a young man we have known for most of his life.  It was a relaxing weekend in a city that holds special memories for us.  Sometimes you don't realize you need to get away until you've had a chance to do it. I think the moral of the story is if you wait to take a break until you know for sure you need one,  you're likely way overdue.

The happy couple
Good friends
Good food
Amazing architecture in a city that prides itself on its colorful and unique neighborhoods
Commonplace Bookstore
Pleasant weather
Safe travel
A chance to unwind
Love
Laughter

  1. Very good point about needing a break. I hope you weren't overdue :)
I love the simplicity of your post. It overflows with sentiment and emotion using very few words.

    1. I wasn't overdue, but cetainly was headed there. I need to listen better to the signals my body sends me.

  3. That is so true. I remember how much I realized the truth of that statement of not knowing how much I needed to get away until I had a chance to do it. It is such a healthy thing to do.

    1. Such a simple concept, you would think I would be better able to put it into practice.

  4. What a wonderful vacation! Glad you had such a nice time.
Years ago, a woman in her 90s gave me similar advice about getting away. She said her husband had worked hard before retirement so that they could travel later. He died shortly after retiring, so they never got to take all the trips they had dreamed about. She said to not put off until retirement vacations that could be taken earlier. Kind of a sad story, but it stuck with me.

    1. I think that happens a lot more often than we would like to admit. America needs to take a page out of Europe's lifestyle handbook on this one. They understand the value of a break.
