TToT: Break Time

Doing the Happy Dance as I enumerate my list of Thankfuls this week:

It is Spring Break.
It is spring.
We are on break.
I am counting this as three because I have really, really needed Spring Break!

Friday was an inservice day.  Three of the teachers and I were able to slip away for lunch.  Teachers never get to go out with work friends for lunch.  It was a great reminder how much I like the people I work with which is something that makes even the hard days more bearable.

My son, The Diplomat, will be home from a year studying abroad in 81 days.  2 and one-half months.   Less than a quarter of a year. Relatively soon!

My daughter, The Dentist, is spending the week in Jamaica providing free dental care to those in need.
She is coming for a visit home for Easter.

My daughter, Le Professeur, will be home in 13 days to spend a long weekend.

The Engineer is building a raised bed for a veggie garden this summer.

One of the teachers at school had a sweet baby boy this week. Tonight I got to hold him, and let him wrap his little finger around mine. It is really difficult to hold a newborn baby and not be overcome with a strong wave of thankful.

  1. busy (and widespread) family!
Spring is surely the most productive of times, even if only within.
(I enjoy Spring in New England because I can work in the yard (and the woods that start at the endue of the lawn, without being interrupted by excessively large, multi-legged lifeforms)

  2. Happy Spring Break May!
    I love the picture. Beautiful.
And what a lovely list. I concur with Clark...your children are widespread! How exciting for your son studying abroad and your daughter the dentist must have a heart of gold.
Whenever I have a garden, it will be raised beds all the way!
So glad you were able to enjoy time with friends :)
    Enjoy your break :D

    1. This will be my first experience with raised beds. I have been pretty dismal with regular beds, so I am hoping that this is the answer. I love-at least the idea of- a garden!

    2. There is nothing more rewarding than growing your own vegetables :) And nothing more tasty than home grown tomatoes!!
It's a lot of work but well worth the effort. Good luck!

  4. It is really difficult to hold a new born and see the entire universe in their eyes and a miracle - enjoy your time with the family sounds like a wonderful break for you :)

    1. Holding him made me keenly aware of the mess of a world we are passing on! I would prefer to shut myself in the nursery just rocking him and blocking out the rest!

  8. You must be so proud of your children, May - what wonderful human beings you've raised! And you're so right - teachers never do get to go out to lunch with friends. That's one thing I am loving about working from home now. Lunch date? Yes!

    1. There are so many simple things that other professionals get to do that teachers don't...lunch, make a phone call, go to the bathroom when your bladder tells you to!
