TToT: Hints of Spring

Spring is so close I can almost taste it!
I am counting the days until my girls are home for Easter.
The first crocuses have made a timid appearance.
I awoke to the sounds of birds chirping this morning.
Spring Parent/Teacher conferences were this week....something like 16 hours of them...and now they are done!
I took a step towards healing.  After giving up my van in which I have spent the better part of the past eleven years (side eye to my children), I feel less separation anxiety after filling the little H-RV aka Harvey for the first time.  $15.32.  Correct.  Fifteen dollars and thirty-two cents.
Love is in the air for the wild bunnies so they are putting on a show right in my own backyard as they attempt to impress all the lady bunnies.
Someone rang my doorbell yesterday and asked to buy my house.  That will make you take a second look at all you take for granted.
I have two packages of tomato seeds started.  I report that without a hint of cynicism despite a very spotty history in tomato farming.  Hope springs eternal!

  1. So many signs of spring!! All of our crocuses were dug up last year in the big landscaping redo. I'll have to plant more. I do love those pretty little flowers letting me know spring is right around the corner.
The birds have been quite chirpy here, too. Great sound, isn't it?
We're simply waiting for my van to go belly up. It has 192,000 miles on it, so there is a do not resuscitate on it. We won't be buying another 12 passenger. I'm sad that it will mean the end of an era, with kids growing up and moving on, but I will be thrilled to not have to drive that beast around anymore.
Good luck with those tomato plants! We gave up the growing from seed business. We just buy baby tomato plants.

    1. My van made it to 185,000 and was beginning to have too many this and that's to contend with considering we are now running from KS to NC multiple times each year. My grief at leaving it behind is exactly as you say--end of an era.

  4. Spring hope eternal (please). For me, too. Good luck with the tomato seeds. I've never really had luck with anything except herbs. Which I love growing.

    1. So funny---I keep hearing that herbs grow like weeds. Still, I have zero luck with them. One year I had a great crop of basil, but it seems like that was the exception that proves the rule.

  5. we're far enough north to not yet see physical signs of non-Winter, so I'm counting on my calendar…and how light it is at 5:30 and even past 6:00 (! well, not quite 'still light', but enough 'not dark' to be encouraging)

    1. We have a couple lamps on timers and had to set them back an hour because it was light when they turned on. That was pretty exciting!

  6. So...wait...someone randomly knocked on your door and asked to buy your house! WOW!

And what is this H-RV that you're referring to? I might have to look into that in the future. :)

And parent-teacher conferences? You're in education, eh? BLESSINGS to you, friend! I, too, am an educator.

Crocuses are nature's blessing: a signal to the end of winter and pending spring. Bring it on!

    1. The car is a smaller version of Honda's C-RV basically. It is fun, and cheap to drive!

    1. We have a stone house--Kansas limestone. It is kind of iconic here, and looks homey. It made me a bit ashamed that I forget to see what is right in front of me every single day.

  8. Tomato seeding is fun, and yes, ever-hopeful. I can't remember the last time I grew tomatoes...wait, I can! It was in my first flat with Husby, and I felt quite the sense of proprietary pride as my seedlings flourished and then grew lots of lovely tomatoes for us to eat. I do love fresh tomatoes, so you can still smell the green of the sepals on them.

*sigh* Ohhh how I love that spring is springing, but COME ONNNNN SUMMER!

Glad your parent-teacher conferences are over, and your new car sounds AWESOME :)

    1. Oh, it sounds like your tomato days have been filled with much greater success than mine. I can grow gorgeous plants. The actual tomatoes though? A rare treat in my little garden!

  9. I wish someone would come to my door and tell me they want to buy my house. Send your person my way.
    Frisky bunnies?
I love crocuses in the spring, but I don't ever want to go to the actual trouble to plant bulbs in the fall.

    1. I thought about it for like thirty seconds. Memories of moving my daughter three times in 2015 soon popped into my head. No thank you! As my neighbor always said---they will have to take me outta here on a stretcher.

  10. Birds out my window is one of my very favourite sounds in the world.
    :-)
Birds and flowers mean spring is on its way. Who wouldn't love that?

  11. I have so very much missed reading you, May. I'm finding it so hard lately to keep up with...everything. I'm working on straightening that out. (My suspicion is that it is indicative of the fact that I have too much going on.)
These are beautiful signs of spring and I am so ready for it!
Fifteen bucks to fill the car??? That is truly something worthy of the thankful list! Woohoo!
