Homemade Shower Cleaner

I have read that when we purchase household cleaners, shampoos etc.  mostly what we pay for is water.  So, when I came across the recipe for an after shower spray cleaner at http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf905974.tip.html I decided to see for myself.
Their recipe:  For a 24-oz spray bottle:
  • 1/2 c rubbing alcohol
  • 1/2 c hydrogen peroxide
  • 6 drops Dawn dish detergent
  • 1 capful (about 2 tsp) Jet Dry
  • fill to 24-oz with water (distilled or purified if you have it)
Don't make up a big batch to refill because the H2O2 doesn't last very long before becoming plain-old H2O. The H2O2 dissolves proteins (like sloughed skin and body fluids), the alcohol and Dawn dissolve oils, the Jet Dry suspends the minerals. (08/25/2006 thrifyfun.com)     By Bryan

We are on our second batch and it really does seem to work as well as the brands I have purchased in the store.  It takes such small amounts of each ingredient that I haven't bothered to try to estimate the cost, though it isn't much.  Just as I had read water really is the main ingredient filling over half of the bottle. The rest of the ingredients are stuff we have on hand anyway and it only takes about five minutes to whip up a batch.  Sorry, Scrubbing Bubbles, you're history!
Author's Note: We have now used this shower cleaner for over a year and are very satsified with the results.
