TToT: Light

In the midst of winter in a dark world, this sunbeam greeted me when I woke up Thursday morning. Shining its rainbow light on my happy sign, it just made me feel better about the world.  I experienced a particular pang of thankfulness reflecting on all the people who contribute to my personal happily ever after.
I have also noticed lately that the days are getting longer once again.  I am a winter person, but the realization that one day is a little longer than the day before just picks up my spirits this time of year.
I have been feeling healthy --both light of heart and light of step-- lately.
The Annual Women's March makes my heart soar.  It restores my hope. It made me so proud that my grown kids participated.  As for me, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to serve on the poster committee giving me the opportunity to take part in my own introverted way.
I believe love really does trump hate, and that light will overcome the darkness.  For that I am truly thankful.

  1. totally with you on the benefits of longer days, there is something about how, (while work remains towards the 2nd half of the afternoon) that the (work) day ends in light, rather than darkness. Way less of the one-set-of-challenges-tied-to-the-next by thoughtlessness sleep.

    1. When you go to work in the dark and later drive home in the dark, it just feels like you are being overworked some how.

    1. Wasn't that fun? It has been there every morning since too. I guess it is the upside to having to take down a huge old tree out front.

    1. I am a sucker for any time light bends into rainbow colors! I never outgrew that.

  6. So happy to see you joining us, May! :-) I love that the sunbeam rainbow fell right on your sign, a lovely way to start the day! I am loving the longer hours of daylight too, otherwise it feels like the evening is gone in no time when Papa Bear gets home from work.

I love the positivity in your post, it's uplifting! I'm so glad you are feeling healthy and light, that energy empowers so many things, like your wonderful participation in preparing for the Annual Women's March. You have taught your kids values that will stay with them for a lifetime!

Like you, I refuse to buy into the gloom and doom theory of the world, still holding out hope and belief that love conquers hate and that light overcomes darkness. If we can each believe and pray for that, it can and will happen! Love is the most powerful force in the Universe because it comes from Our Creator himself! Have a blessed week! XO

  7. I hate winter, and I, too, noticed the days are getting longer, although it's still DAMN DARK when I have to get up in the morning.

I was sorry they didn't have a Women's March in my area this year. I found last year's empowering.

    1. Was there one in Jeff City? My kids went to Lawrence on Saturday and to the state capital on Sunday. They were pumped!

  8. Your sign with the rainbow is beautiful. Sunshine casting rainbows inside the home is a real plus that can't help but lift one's spirit. Those are such bright eye-catching posters that you made.
I am with you on light overcoming darkness. The sunshine eventually becomes visible when the storm subsides, and so it is in life.

  9. Very cool to wake not only to a rainbow but one that is shining on that particular sign. Surely a good omen :D
I am totally overjoyed at the longer days and counting down to March 11! You can tell there's a difference in the "timbre" of the daylight. It is pre-Spring teasing us a little :)

    1. Yes, you are right. There is a difference in the timbre of the light. I had noticed that, but hadn't really taken time to think about it...but now I will for sure.
